mes intentions en tant que musicien:

Je voudrais créer une musique africaine moderne et respectueuse pour combattre les clichés occidentaux. Je tiens tout d'abord à satisfaire mon public et aussi à donner du courage à mes collègues musiciens africains, d'éxprimer librement leurs réalités quotidiennes. Depuis 1989 je lutte pour la présentation de la culture africaine avec respect et j'essaie de la moderniser pour éviter cette représentation négative qui la rend toujours comme un objet de moquerie. Jusque là l'occident a toujours considéré la musique africaine comme des bruits rythmés en oubliant qu'elle est l'origine de blues, jazz, soul, funk, reggae, hiphop et même du rock'n roll; ne parlons même pas de la musique latine comme la rumba, salsa, merenge etc.

Avec mes deux projets "Sunshine Enterprise Club Sampler" et "Super Ethno Astronaut" ainsi que mon tout premier album solo "M'zee Waka" j'ai reçu la réputation d'ambassadeur de la musique africaine moderne en Suisse, Allemagne et en Autriche. L' appréciation positive de ces derniers pays envers ma musique, m'a donné du courage d*essayer aussi à gagner le public français, belge, hollandais, anglais, americain, sans oublier la surface afro-asiatique. Pour le moment je suis en train de préparer mon nouvel album "maturité" (hip hop soukous makoul) pour lequel je suis à la recherche d'aides financières (sponsoring) et de producteurs.

Depuis 4 ans je fais la moderation dans les plus grands festivals de world music (spring vibration) et reggae (sunsplash) à Wiesen (Autriche), qui me donne chaque année l'opportunité de connaître les artistes internationaux tels que Jimmy Cliff, Alpha Blondy, Miriam Makeba, Manu Dibangu, Papa Wemba, Mori Kante, Sly & Robbie, Pato Banton, Inner Circle, The Wailers (Band of Bob Marley), Linton Kwesi Johnston, Black Uhuru, Misty in Roots, James Brown, etc. Mon intention c'est de ne pas seulement faire la connaissance de ces grandes stars, mais aussi de découvrir et de soutenir les talents cachés des artistes dans le soi-disant "tiers monde", là où ceux-ci sont discrédités par le système politique despotique et corruptible.

Pendant mes derniers séjours au R.D.C. il y a 4 ans, j'ai fait la rencontre de jeunes musiciens talentueux qui n'ont pas la moindre chance de s'éxprimer à cause du manque de possibilités. J'aimerais vraiment soutenir leur développement artistique et les aider, si possible, à arriver à un niveau international, car les musiciens africains sont toujours refusés par les concours internationaux. Si j'avais les moyens j'allais utiliser mes éxperiences et mes connections afin de présenter ce potentiel culturel d'une manière digne. A Vienne, je fais aussi la modération d'une émission de radio "Bisengo Ya Africa nonstop" dans laquelle j'ai l'intention d'établier une plate-forme pour toutes sortes d'artistes africains, résidant en Autriche, où ils peuvent s'éxprimer librement et parler de leurs éxperiences conçernant la discrimination, l'oppression et leur survie dans ce pays. C'est aussi une possibilité entre autres pour eux de présenter leurs talents.

Je planifie aussi de créer une station de radio et télévision "Chaleur Afrique" à Kinshasa ou dans d'autres capitales africaines si possible; ce qui transmettrait la culture africaine dans le monde entier, comme la station de radio americaine "Afro pop" à New York qui promouvoit la musique africaine aux Etats Unis. En Afrique il y a aussi d'excellents ingénieurs de son avec lesquels j'aimerais travailler pour construire au Zaïre un studio de haute capacité pour tout genre d'enregistrement, comme fait mon grand collègue Youssou N'Dour à Dakar au Sénégal.
Le prochain pas serait de promouvoir et de distribuer ces produits mondialement, car jusque là la musique africaine n'a pas eu encore de chance dans le marché international, à cause de l'ignorance et du refus de producteurs et de grandes maisons de disques .

A côté de la musique, il y a aussi un potentiel artistic qui doit encore être éxploré et découvert, comme par exemple la peinture, la poésie, la danse, le cinéma, theatre, ballet etc.

my intentions as musician:

I want to create modern African music apart from clichés and European expectations. Though first of all I want to entertain my audience, my sounds should as well encourage African musicians to express themselves freely in their own lived reality. Since 1989 I'm struggling for a respectful presentation of the African culture and trying to modernize it, as it has always been the subject of mockery because of its negative presentation. Till now the Western world considers African music as rhythmic noise forgetting that it is the origin of Blues, Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop and even Rock'n Roll, not even mentioning Latin American music like Salsa, Rumba, Merenge, Samba, etc.

With the two projects"Sunshine Enterprise Club Sampler" and "Super Ethno Astronaut" and my first solo album "M'Zee Waka" I created a reputation as ambassador of the modern African music in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. As my music is obviously electrifing my audience, I'm encouraged to reach the same in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, England, the United States, and not to forget the afro-asian audience. At the moment I am preparing the new album "Maturité"(hip hop makoul) in Paris for which I am looking for sponsors and producers.

Since 4 years I am moderating the biggest festivals in World Music (spring vibrations) and Reggae (sunsplash) in Austria (Wiesen) every year which gives me the opportunity to be in contact with international musicians like Jimmy Cliff, Alpha Blondy, Miriam Makeba, Manu Dibango, Papa Wemba, Mori Kante, Miriam Makeba, Sly and Robby, Pato Banton, Inner Circle, The Wailers (Band of Bob Marley), Linton Kwesi Johnson, Black Uhuru, Misty in Roots, James Brown and others. But my specific intention is not only to come to know this stars but to discover and promote hidden talents in the socalled "Third World" where artists are discredited by political systems of corruption and dictatorship.

During my last stay in the R.D.C. 4 years ago I met a lot of young musicians with talent who get no chance to express themselves because of the lack of possibilites. I'd really like to support their artistic development and bring them to an international level. International music awards still refuse African artists. If I had the means, I could use my experience and connections to promote this cultural potential with dignity. In Vienna I'm moderating the radio programme "Bisengo Ya Afrika Nonstop" in which I intend to establish a platform for all kinds of African artists living in Austria. They express their opinions and talk about their experiences concerning discrimination and oppression and how they survive in this country. Apart from that it is a possibility for them to present their talents.

I'm also planning to create the radio and TV network "Chaleur Afrique" (African heat) in Kinshasa or other capitals which would transmit African vibrations throughout the world, like the American radio station "Afro Pop" in New York which is promoting African music in the U.S. There are also a lot of excellent sound engineers in Africa with whom I'd like to work together and build up a studio in Zaïre providing the technical capacities for any kind of recording as Youssou N'Dour a Dakar in Senegal. The next step would be to promote and distribute the products worldwide because African music still does not have a chance in the international market caused by the ignorance and contempt of major record companies and producers.

Apart from music there exits a huge artistic potential to be explored and discovered: painters, poets, dancers, actors, film directors, theatre, ballet and many more.

meine Ziele als Musiker:

Ich möchte afrikanische Musik jenseits von Klischées und europäischen Erwartungen machen. Obwohl ich vor allem mein Publikum unterhalten möchte, soll meine Musik ebenso afrikanische MusikerInnen ermutigen, sich in ihrer eigenen Lebensrealität frei auszudrücken. Seit 1989 kämpfe ich für eine respektvolle Präsentation der afrikanischen Kultur und versuche, diese zu modernisieren, da sie aufgrund der negativen Darstellung immer wieder Gegenstand des Spottes wird. Bis heute empfindet die westliche Welt afrikanische Musik als rhythmischen Lärm und vergisst, dass sie den Ursprung von Blues, Jazz, Hip Hop und sogar Rock'n Roll begründet, ganz zu schweigen von lateinamerikanischer Musik wie Salsa, Merenge, Samba, etc.

Mit den zwei Projekten "Sunshine Enterprise Club Sampler" und "Super Ethno Astronaut" sowie mit meinem ersten Soloalbum "M'Zee Waka" konnte ich meinen Ruf als Botschafter der modernen afrikanischen Musik in der Schweiz, in Deutschland und in Österreich etablieren. Da meine Musik mein Publikum ganz offensichtlich begeistert, bin ich ermutigt, dasselbe auch in Frankreich, Belgien, den Niederlanden, England, Amerika und nicht zu vergessen im afro-asiatischen Raum zu versuchen. Zur Zeit arbeite ich an meinem neuen Album "Maturité" in Paris, für welches ich noch Sponsoren und Produzenten suche.

Seit 4 Jahren moderiere ich die größten Festivals in Weltmusik (Spring Vibration) und Reggae (Sunsplash) in Österreich (Wiesen) jedes Jahr, was mir die Möglichkeit gibt, mit internationalen MusikerInnen wie Jimmy Cliff, Alpha Blondy, Miriam Makeba, Manu Dibangu, Papa Wemba, Mori Kante, Sly & Robbie, Pato Banton, Inner Circle, The Wailers (Band of Bob Marley), Linton Kwesi Johnston, Black Uhuru, Misty in Roots, James Brown und anderen in Kontakt zu sein. Meine besondere Absicht ist es aber nicht nur, solche Stars kennenzulernen, sondern versteckte Talente der sogenannten "Dritten Welt" zu entdecken und zu fördern, wo KünstlerInnen von politischen Systemen der Diktatur und Korruption diskreditiert werden.

Während meines letzten Aufenthaltes in Zaïre vor 4 Jahren traf ich eine Menge junger talentierter MusikerInnen, die aus Mangel an Möglichkeiten keine Chance haben, sich auszudrücken und zu entfalten. Ich würde wirklich gerne ihre künstlerische Entwicklung unterstützen und ihnen helfen, ein internationales Niveau zu erreichen. Internationale Musikwettbewerbe lehnen afrikanische MusikerInnen immer noch ab. Wenn ich die Mittel hätte, könnte ich meine Erfahrung und Verbindungen nützen, um dieses kulturelle Potential mit Würde zu fördern. In Wien moderiere ich das Radioprogramm "Bisengo Y'Afrika Nonstop" in welchem ich versuche, eine Plattform für alle Arten von afrikanischen KünstlerInnen zu schaffen, die in Österreich leben. Sie drücken hier ihre Meinungen aus und sprechen über ihre Erfahrungen mit Diskriminierung und Unterdrückung, und wie sie in diesem Land überleben. Darüberhinaus ist es eine Möglichkeit, ihre Talente zu präsentieren.

Ich plane ebenso den Radio- und Fernsehsender "Chaleur Afrique" in Kinshasa ins Leben zu rufen, welcher afrikanische Vibrationen in die Welt ausstrahlen könnte, so wie der amerikanische Sender "Afro Pop" in New York, der afrikanische Musik in den Vereinigten Staaten fördert. Es gibt auch eine Menge exzellenter Tontechniker in Afrika, mit denen ich gerne zusammenarbeiten und ein Studio in Zaïre einrichten würde, das über die technischen Voraussetzungen für jede Art von Aufnahme verfügt, wie es mein großer Kollege Youssou N'Dour in Dakar im Senegal bereits verwirklicht hat. Der nächste Schritt wäre es, die Produkte weltweit zu bewerben und zu vertreiben, da afrikanische Musik aufgrund der Ignoranz und Geringschätzung der großen Plattenfirmen und Produzenten immer noch keine Chancen auf dem internationalen Markt hat.

Neben der Musik existiert aber auch ein weiteres künstlerisches Potential, das erforscht und entdeckt werden will: MalerInnen, DichterInnen, TänzerInnen, SchauspielerInnen, FilmemacherInnen und viele andere.
